The disease is caused by a sensitivity to androgen hormones. Specifically, it is sensitivity to the hormone derivative of testosterone, dihydro-testosterone, known as DHT – that triggers the condition.
We have a wide range of lasers available. Because each patient is unique, our team of physicians will carefully choose the right laser or combination of lasers and medications to bring your Acne and Acne Scars under control and get your skin looking its best again.
Amongst the laser treatments, Photodynamic Therapy or PDT is another great alternative. It works by direct injury to the target cells and tissues. This involves an activated oxygen molecule that can injure or destroy nearby cells. Because the normal skin barrier is not present at the sites of the actinic keratoses, it is preferentially absorbed there and activated by light. Then, the activated oxygen destroys the adjacent abnormal tissue. Once the areas have healed following PDT, the areas are re-examined to see if additional treatments are needed.
How Does The Laser Treatment Work? ?
The tattoo ink soaks up the beam’s energy and gets extremely hot for a fraction of a second. This is enough to break up the ink causing it to fade slowly. Over the next few weeks the body can clear these small particles of ink. When these are out of the way the laser beam can shine down to the next layer of ink. Allow at least a month between treatments
What are the Unwanted Effects?
Scarring is unlikely but can occur. If it does occur it is usually in the form of some change in texture of the skin. This is more likely if you pick any scabs. There can also be some loss of natural skin pigment in the treated area, which usually improves with time. The chances of it happening can be reduced by following the doctors prescription to the point throughout the course of treatment.
What is the Post-treatment aftercare ?
A sun tan gets in the way of the laser light, so avoid the sun, or use a high SPF sunscreen, before and during treatment.Be gentle with the treated area until it has settled down so as to minimize the risk of scars. Avoid picking and scratching.
